Latex Care

Cleaning Latex

Your garment will arrive with a fine coating of talc. This will need to be washed off. Use a tub or bowl of lukewarm water and a small amount of mild soap (preferably unscented). Swirl the garment around the water including the inside. A soft sponge or cloth may help remove the talc.

Rinse thoroughly with fresh warm water and hang to air dry. Do not hang on a metal coat hanger, as this may stain the latex. You may need to turn the garment inside out to allow the inside to dry.

Getting into Latex

We recommend using either talc or a latex dressing aid to put on your garment. Coat the inside of your garment with a fine layer of talc or dressing aid. For tight fitting items, we also recommend applying a layer of dressing aid to the skin.

Slide the latex on gently, be careful not to grab or pull at the fabric with your fingers, as this risks tearing it. Be very careful if you have long fingernails or are wearing jewellery, as this may puncture or tear the latex.

Now you’re wearing your latex? It's time to shine! We recommend beGloss Premium Shine. Spray and rub the shiner all over your garment for a high shine. You can also use a lint-free cloth to distribute the shiner around.

Aftercare

Sweat and skin oils will slowly break down the surface of your latex so be sure to wash it as soon as possible after wear. Repeat the washing and drying process above. Latex must be dry as any trapped moisture may cause mould to grow.

Before putting it away, coat your garment in either a fine layer of talc or protector to stop it sticking to itself. We recommend beGloss Perfect Shine Protector.

UV will damage the surface of latex. It will lose its shine and become brittle. Be sure to store your latex away from sunlight. If you intend to wear your latex in direct sunlight we recommend using beGloss Perfect Shine protector to prevent UV damage.

Cautions

Some metals can stain latex, particularly lighter colours. Never use metal coat hangers. Be careful of storing garments with metal hardware against other garments. We recommend storing light coloured garments separately.

Oils will break down latex. Never use an oil based lubricant to get into your garment. Clean any oil-based makeup off your garment immediately.

Some rubber toys, including silicon may interact negatively with latex. Do not store latex with toys or leave toys lying on garments.
